Al Ramirez was born in “Puebla de los Angeles” (town of angels). From a Catholic family, he grew up in Mexico City. His studies were in public schools. He remembers as a young man that he practiced canoeing in Mexico for several years. He learned trades like cooking Mexican dishes which would later help him find work when he migrated to California.
In Los Angeles, he worked in restaurants, the steel industry, construction, and his latest work for the past 30 years has been at Saint Hedwig Catholic Church. He expressed that it is a true blessing to work with such an amazing staff and priests. Through his work at Saint Hedwig and dedicating his time with Knights of Columbus, he has been able to find more love for God and ability to serve the community. Al is a husband to his wife Denise, a father of 4 children, and a grandfather to 10 lovely grandchildren.
